Overview
The Vision
Since the inaugural edition of the TWO conference in January 2023, I have served as the lead design partner for Alan & Grant’s digital ecosystem. What began as a debut platform for a landmark event has evolved over several years into a sophisticated central nervous system for workforce management.
Our partnership has been defined by iterative growth. As the workforce landscape shifted, so did the platform. Our goal was to build a product that transcends traditional HR utility, becoming a high-performance engine for organizational health and human capital optimization.
The System: Designed for Evolution
Product UI in the HR space is notoriously cluttered. Having designed the platform’s trajectory since 2023, I developed a design language rooted in "Cognitive Ease"—ensuring the interface could scale in complexity without losing its intuitive core. We divided the platform into two distinct modes:
-
The Pulse: High-level overview screens providing leaders with a macro-vantage point of organizational health. We utilized generous whitespace to ensure that even as the platform’s data capabilities grew over the years, the metrics remained breathable.
-
The Detail: Micro-level widgets designed for tactical actions. By refining the border radius and utilizing a soft, professional palette, we ensured the interface remains a welcoming environment for daily administrative use.
Visual Philosophy: Professional Optimism
For TWO, the visual identity needed to project both authority and approachability. We moved away from the sterile aesthetics of legacy enterprise software.
-
Palette: Deep, grounding tones establish trust, punctuated by vibrant accents that highlight progress. It is a palette designed to celebrate human growth.
-
Typography: We selected a typeface that maintains absolute legibility across dense data tables and mobile-first administrative views, ensuring technical precision at every touchpoint.
Architecture: The Unified Flow
The primary UX challenge was the "Information Silo." Over years of development, I re-engineered the user journey into a Unified Flow, creating a seamless thread between diverse modules like recruitment, learning, and strategy.
We introduced a Navigation Matrix that allows users to pivot from a global organizational view down to a single employee’s career path without losing context. This architecture was built to be modular, allowing us to plug in new features as the Alan & Grant ecosystem expanded from its 2023 foundation.
Geography of Talent: Data Visualization
Geography is a core data point for Alan & Grant’s regional operations. We developed visualization tools that turn raw payroll and recruitment data into visceral maps. Whether viewing a regional talent cluster or a single candidate’s journey, the data remains technically rigorous yet visually compelling.
The Result: An Invisible Engine
The reimagined TWO platform is a high-performance digital environment that matches Alan & Grant’s reputation for excellence. Through a multi-year partnership of refinement and "studied restraint," we created an invisible engine for productivity—allowing organizations to focus less on managing software and more on managing people.
